Portofino Italien Restaurant

I went a few time at the restaurant. To be honest, I had some good and bad experience with the food and slow service, but the servers were doing their best( very polite and pleasant). I would say, it all depend on unpredicted busy days.
The pizza's and sausages are amazing.I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. The ambiance and atmosphere is very cosy. For those who love seafood, the seafood pasta's are just delicious. Tree cheese manicotti...lovely.
And for all of those who find the food overpriced...well..we are in 2010.. a McDonnald's combo is 7.99$!!! Their luch buffet is 9.99$..isn't it a great deal?? The price are very comparable to Boston pizza and East side Mario's, but just a better atmosphere and more fancy.
Also, the servers were able to make great recommandation with the wine.
I never had a bad exprerience with the owner, he's always around to greet.

I would suggest to make a reservation in advance for biggger groups of people.
I will definitely eat out at this restaurant again.

Not a good experience. The salmon did not smell good and did not taste good. The chicken was very dry. The service was slow. The servers were doing their best but they were too busy. Four of us received our meal while one had to wait almost 15 mins before he got his plate. Everybody else was almost finished.Food presentation was not appetizing. We will not return.

Won't be back again....... 2 of us, a couple... My main course came with my salad, my wifes main came about 1 hour after her salad.... and it wasn't what she ordered......... Too much money for what it was, not really that good either... Like I said won't be back again......

Food and drinks were wonderful! Waitress was very polite and decore was very nice. Great atmosphere! Will definately be back!! Recomend to anyone! Very proud of you Fabio!! Great job! Best of Luck!

For a while, I was going to another Italien Restaurant down on Main st, which I won't mention which one....however, the quality started tasting like your everyday franchise food, cheap and low quality while the prices go up.

Portofino is owned and operated by an authentic, original family straight from Italy, and offers home recipes from their own family. The quality of their food is by far the best I've had in NB when it comes top Italian food.
The service is great, and the ambiance is very 'chic'.
The prices are very reasonable for the quality you get.
Tony is always sincerely pleased to greet you and Fabio, his son is proud to have his homemade sausages featured in many of their dishes.

During the week, at lunch, there is a full, all you can eat Italian Buffet of only $9.99 !!!! Where the hell else can you get non-stop eating of high end food for that price???
This is my favorite restaurant when it comes to a nice romantic night, or a belly stuffer of a lunch!
Highly recommended, a 10 out of 10 !

Also, just so that everyone knows, the team of servers and cooks have changed a bit, and the service is extraodinary.
This is a family who is trying at best to keep up against other restaurants, as this is a very tuff industry to be in, and I have to tip my hat to them. They are doing a great job!

In response to this last comment...First of all I did not attend the wine show. Second you must be related to the owner, and thirdly I am entitled to my own opinion. And last but not least if your taste is as good as your spelling, need I say more.....

dont know witch restaurant you ment but portofino is the best restaurant in town we go eat there every week and we have no complaint to say its just excelent).i think you had to much wine at the wine show mame)

Where do I start....so many things went wrong. We were a party of seven, out for a relatives birthday. I really wish we would have read these reviews, it would have saved us a lot of grief. We waited almost two hours for our meals and most were not fit to eat and the others were cold. When my Husband complained to the Server she returned with a round of Italian liqueur shots, compliments of the Owner, that is all well and good but we were starving. When owner came over he was very aggressive and began insulting us.He called my Husband a piece of s**t and a few other not repeatable words. Needless to say it was the most horrifying experience we had ever had, and NO we will never be back. This was in Nov./09 I see nothing has changed from the beginning of the year to present. Obviously this man has not realized that word of mouth can be very damaging, not to mention the patrons that witnessed this exchange. I am telling EVERYONE that I know and they are telling everyone that they know, so on and so on...You know how the story goes.The three hundred dollars that it cost us,is going to cost him a lot more in the end. Hopefully I have saved at least one person from experiencing the embarrassment that we suffered.

food not good and over priced !!!!!

I went may 28th, and i really really enjoy the atmosphere, and the decoration is so beautiful. You feel as if you were in Italy. We had a menu for lunch and the prices were good. I had the chicken parmigiana and someone at my table took the lasagna and we found the food was very good. I will go back. I think that the people that had bad experience, could try it again, people probably deserve a second chance. The service was good too.

I went with a party of 12 one evening Feb.23 on a Saturday. Atmosphere was amazing!! I loved the acordion playing it really set the mood ) Food was delicious, and honestly i didnt find it that bad in price. Chicken Parmigiana was awesome!

Excellent! Was there for New Year's Eve. The atmosphere was perfect! The food was incredible! Service was great!

We had the worst restaurant experience at Portofino. We were a group of 10, and it took 2 hours to get our food (wich was cold and quite ordinary in taste). Seven of us got their plate. All of them were done and the other 3 still didnt have their plates. When the owner came to see us, he insulted us and we ended leaving the place with 3 people not happy that never got their plates...ouch. Never going back and I am not recommending this restaurant. Service and food were terrible and the decor was tacky.

A group of 7 of us went to have lunch (Dec 11). The buffet is the ONLY offering at lunch which we were not informed of when we made reservations. The buffet was VERY pre-made and either way overcooked, bland and some items had been sitting so long the sauce on the meat had dried out. The desserts were sparse with two of the four choices (two of them were pudding's I think)being served like I was in my kids school cafeteria.
I will NOT be recommeding this restaurant.
