We've eaten at Petit Cavalier several times now and have been e xtremely satisfied with the food and service. The mushroom soup they have is one of the best mushroom soups I've ever eaten in my life, and I've eaten all over the world. The best part of our experience is that the chef/owner usually comes out and asks us how our meal was. Nice personal touch, old school style. Hard to find this type of service around any more. I give this place a 5 out of 5 for both the food and level of service. I will be back again and again. By far the best rench resturaunt has seen yet. Keep up the great work!
We have been to this restaurant many times and have enjoyed the top-notch service, food and wine. So pleased to have an English server who was able to explain the dishes on the menu and the evening specials. Thanks and we will be back again soon. Moncton, NB
My husband and I travel extensively around the world, and believe me, we have had poor food, poor service, and poor lighting. Petit Cavalier is a novelty to enjoy, especially in Moncton. Where people tend towards steak houses or fast food. I had the best mushroom soup I have ever had !!!! The staff was very enjoyable and very informative. The local art is very special, and we own a piece, and have bought some from the artist as gifts. So she is now very European. Everyone prepare your tastebuds for very real food, it is spectacular. By the way English is the international language, so be it, accept that not every great server speaks French. My best to the management and the staff at Petit Cavalier, we will return, next time we are in Canada in 2011.
We celebrated our Anniversary in fine style, and might I add, we had no reservations and neither did they!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome Supper, Awesome Evening.....Will we go back? Oh Yeah!!! Will we recommend to friends and family???? Oh Yeah! The food was superb!!!! My one recommendation for the establishment.....dim the lights... add a bit more ambiance.... You've got what it takes, now just pump it up a bit with a flick of a switch... dim the lights.
Sadly the person writing the negative reviews has some kind of personal issue. We wish you the best. Clearly, whoever it is can speak english because the terrible review was written in english. While visiting Moncton NB, my husband and I dined at the Petit Cavalier. What can I say.....BEST, food, service, atmosphere, value, and all around dining ever. We have traveled many places, we live in Edmonton and enjoy dining out in fine restaurants. Petit Cavalier is by far the BEST. Lucky Moncton, if we lived there, we would frequent this fine restaurant. Great job, we thank you for a wonderful experience. When we return to Moncton, we will be dining there positively.
We went on a Saturday evening with our daughter and her fiance, and it was stellar in every way. Service was friendly and professional, without being pretentious. The house itself is charming and cozy in atmosphere. And the FOOD ...well, it was something special to savour from beginning to end. We look forward to our next visit!
to everyone checking this restuarant out on here....every post your seeing will negative review is the same person....she use to work there but was let go because of a bad attitude and had no knowledge of a french restuarant...i've been there twice while she worked there and she had a cocky attitude and i noticed was very rude to her fellow employees
Went there the other night with some friends EXCELLENT food and excellent service. I will be back soon. Thanks for the great experience.
To Pianobar I don't exactly understand what your saying. Me and a couple of my close friends went their the other night, and all of the people who were employed there spoke french.
I've to the restaurant may times, and the food is absolutely amazing....best foie gras plate and had a chance to try the riz de veau.....best I ever had
This is the best place in Moncton by far!
Worst experience ever ,I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone, service was terrible, and the food as well. the server did not speak french ???? HELLO were in Moncton.
great food fantastic service
love the old charm house with fine french food
fantastic
This was the first time here and and it was the best that I every had thank .You
This is one of the best food appearance that I ever had thank you
wow is the best way to explain the food
Wonderful experience. The atmosphere is perfect. The service is very professional. But the best part is the food You can not imagine before experiencing it. Everyone with us that day agreed it was the best that they had ever experienced. We where very pleased and have been talking to all our friend about it ever since.. You have to try it.. we will definitely be back. Thank you. One more thing that I would like to add is the art works in the restaurant are from a local artiste and are very original and very pleasing. Im thinking of buying my favorite when we go back
We went for lunch and we were all pleasantly surprised, everything was excellent. Must mention the waiter/server could of have a bit more personality, we couldn't even hear him he was speaking so low. But overall it was really great, we will be back for the supper experience for sure.
WOW! DO I need to say more
Le Petit Cavalier was, overall...just ok. Entering a restaurant with a name like Le Petit Cavalier, you'd expect a service in French. The waitress didn't speak a word of French. Hiring bilingual people would be a good start. The dining rooms are set in a beautiful old house with woodwork and local artwork, and EXTREMELY BRIGHT LIGHTING ! There is zero atmosphere despite it having such potential. I felt like I was sitting on an operating table. And to top it off, there was some really tense classical music. I like classical music, but it was a bit over the top. Nothing cheezy like Kenny G, but something a bit more relax would be good. Finally, the food was quite good. Nothing too original or experimental, but well presented and tasty. We had the fois gras trio, ceasar salad, escargots, lamb with mint gnocchi and some desert (very good !) Everything was the right temperature, not too hot, not too cold. It would be good to see some local stuff on the menu. We will give this restaurant another chance, and hope the atmosphere get a bit better.
everything was fantastic will be back!
I was not impressed with the food or service, it smelled like smoke in the restaurant, and it was cold and damp, it was awful.
Petit Cavalier..A treasure to discover! Exquisite dining in a charming Victorian house. Beautiful background music. Ah! ambiance!! We found prices very reasonable comparing to other dining establishements in Moncton. The quality and presentation of the food excels. The green beans tasted freshly picked! The sauces, pasta AND bread, all incredibly scrumptuous are made in house. (Bread basket was refilled with a smile). We have raved on the Pan Seared Salmon, the Prawns, the Applewood Smoked Pork Tenderloin in Calvedos, And for vegetarians and pasta lovers ..the Leek and Cheese Walnut Manicotti is excellent!! A menu to please all palates! We will going this weekend with friends I will try the Potato crusted Sea Bass or Roasted Rack of Lamb or...The choice is yet to come! Petit Cavalier... Go and experience!... Fine Dining at its best!
I cannot imagine anyone going to this restaurant and not being very, very impressed with the servers, food, atmosphere and overall dining experience. I am seeing some negative reviews from someone complaining of poor service and over priced, low quality food which I cannot imagine. The lighting is customer friendly, you decide what ambience you want, the servers were very experienced, which is why I found them very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. There was no problem with the french/english language as there was french and english speaking servers when I was there. The best surprise of all was that the food was such a sensational treat. Moncton, you must try this place.
WOW!
Moncton has been waiting for a restaurant like this for a long time!!!! I was delighted with my experience at Petit Cavalier. I ordered the Carte Blanche and was definitely impressed!! The atmosphere was magical and the service was excellent!! Well definitely be coming back for more
My family went for dinner ( two couples ) the petit cavalier is not what I would call fine dinning, fine is far from what we experience there, the service was terrible ( didn't pour our wine ) was not what we expected, the menu is overly priced for the quality of the food, on a scale of 1 to 10 we give the cavalier a 2 , not good. they better ship up if they what to stay in business, Moncton is a hard city to please.
The server was fabulous
Everything was wonderful! Thank you we will be back!
We went twice and we were not impressed the first time but we wanted to give the cavalier another try but they failed again, the service was awful and the food was not up to standard, the server did not know what they were doing it was obvious and my beef was over cooked and cold, never again.
This has to be one of the best Restaurants in N.B if not Canada. Everything was outstanding we had the escargot with wild mushroom and goat chease sauce it was the best that I ever had in my life and the rack of lamb was absolutely amazing with the mint gnocchi and rosemary garlic sauce if ever in Moncton you have to try it
The mushroom and truffle has to be the best soup that I ever had if you ever go there you must try it!
Wow! Blew me right away, good show reminds me of France. We will definatly be back again.
The food is absolutely amazing....I cannot go one week without having the foie gras....and the souffl is to die for.
We must have been there on a off night, because we were not impressed with anything ,the food was cold and the service was terrible, no class and the lighting was way too bright it ruined the ambiance, not good !!!
Wow ! Never seen anything like this in moncton.I have gone all over the world and this was one of my favorite experinces. The Chef/Owner evan came out to our table.Thank you very much for the friendlyness and the employees were very friendly. Thanks again we will be back again next time were in moncton
you have to try the crab crusted beef tenderloin to die for
Great service, loved it !
My wife and i went for dinner and were very disappointed with the lack of service, to start ,not a very friendly welcome at the door and the the server was not informed about the menu or wine, we asked about the specials and he did not know them ? we had to ask for water and not ones did he come to ask us how our meal was, the meal was OK ! food was not very hot, we left thinking maybe we won't be back,. Then the next day my wife is reading the news paper and she sees the ad about the entree special they have on with the 35.00 dollars for a three course meal, not once did the server mention this promotion they are featuring, WOW we may have tried this if the server would have even mentioned it, poor way to promote your business, we won't be back.
The duck was unbelivable.Great experince.
Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service was friendly and efficient. Our meal was delicious, obviously made with fresh ingredients and home made sauces. Comfortable atmosphere, where everyone had a great time and wonderful meal. We will be back!!!!!!!! Especially for the creme brulee.
Was not impressed with this so called new fine dinning restauraut, OVER priced the quality was not up to par, , the server could not speak french ?????? HELLO WERE IN MONCTON !!!!!!! and then could not make a simple drink, will not be back again and will inform all my colleages not to waist their time and money, thumps down.
Excellent, Exellent. Food and service, Wow ! the whole package, dinning room, service and above all the food. unbeatable.
Wow,Truly an experience,Moncton was ready for this a long time.
The meal was excellent and the presentation delightful, service pleasant, the setting attractive, cosy but not kitsch, and the room was comfortable, air conditioned but not too cold. All in all, a great meal with wonderful food. We plan to make this find a regular treat.
I had the Chef's choice 5 course menu & everything was fabulous. I particularly enjoyed the potato crusted sea bass & the crme brule.
While visiting Moncton for the weekend we had a wonderful meal in this charming restaurant in a lovely old victorian. The food was exquisite and the service attentive but not intrusive. High quality ingredients and delicious homemade sauces. Fabulous grand marnier souffle and next time I will have to try the chocolate. I only wish they were located in Halifax, but it will be one of my regular stops when in Moncton. I also noticed that the lunch menu was very reasonably priced with a good variety of items, all of which i would like to try!
