If this is the same plcace I think it is..in the little stip mall right by the highway I swear by this place. Now I don't nomally order the Chicken balls OR the egg rolls, so I can't comment on the state of batter or frying oil. However, what I normally DO order is the Shanghai Noodles. Really first rate, generous portion, excellent spice! I've tried this same dish at several restaurants around town and there is no comparison. We usually order sweet and sour pork to accompany the noodles and they're not bad.(For the sake of pork battered, fried, and smothered in sauce P ) Well, that's my two cents anyways...
I must say, I agree with the first person above - I had heard great things about their food so when I finally tried it with my family we all came to the same conclusion - it was the worst Chinese we have ever tasted. The chicken balls were huge and mostly batter. My family couldn't believe it was so bad... Now I have heard since from others that it is the best around so I am tempted to give it another try... maybe it was an off night or something.
We usually order House of Lam but thought we'd take advantage of the 1/2 price menu promotion we learned about through a flyer that came in the mail. What a mistake! This was the worst food I've eaten in years! Totally tasted like it had been saved as leftovers from yesterday's buffet! The chicken balls were absolutely disgusting, they had so much breading they were the size of kiwi! The breading reminded me of Deluxe Fish & Chips (great at Deluxe, not so much on chicken balls). Note to China Coast- when the egg rolls & chicken balls are dark brown it's time to change the grease! The rice, moo goo guy pan and ribs were equally terrible. We paid $30 plus tax for the eqivalent of House of Lam's dinner for 3 ($33.95). After this, we will never stray again! Absolutely horrible!!
The service and atmosphere were excellent. It was clean and we really liked the food as well as the decor.
